Purdue University selects CollegiateLink to
provide Web-based student organization management

Campuswide rollout will track student participation in 840 clubs and organizations

Cambridge, Mass. - CollegiateLink, the leader in co-curricular program management and assessment, announced today that Purdue University has selected StudentLinkto manage their student clubs, organizations, and fraternities and sororities.

Purdue University, a Big Ten institution with more than 39,000 students, chose the CollegiateLink family of products to centralize the membership, activities and communications between students and organizations. StudentLink will allow individual organizations to conduct online surveys and elections, recruit new members, manage membership lists and plan events. The management, communication and tracking tools within StudentLink can be used by student organizations as well as their student members to provide online access to student organizations and their activities.

"Today's students are more techno-savvy than ever before and rely on the online world to help manage their lives," said Pablo Malavenda, associate dean of students at Purdue University.

StudentLink will provide Purdue's students with the tools to identify and join student organizations, to track their participation in co-curricular activities, to communicate with fellow club members and organize their activities, all in a 24/7 online environment.

Purdue has made a commitment to help the environment by reducing paper usage on its campuses. StudentLink will support this effort by providing for the online promotion of student organization and club activities, thus reducing the large amount of paper flyers and other promotional materials that are used on the Purdue campuses. CollegiateLink also will enhance Purdue's focus on student involvement in campus activities by creating opportunities for leaders to promote their organizations, have individual students express their interest in organizations, track student involvement in activities and, most importantly, the ability for Purdue to facilitate the process.

Purdue is completing the transition to a centralized student information system and will use CollegiateLink to provide similar functionality for student's co-curricular activities. StudentLink's data management capabilities provide the tools to track and report the academic status of student leaders and Greek life members.

"Colleges are recognizing the need to provide online tools to manage student organizations, track student participation in those activities and efficiently report this data," said Barbara Ross, CollegiateLink chief executive officer. "Partnering with CollegiateLink will provide Purdue the ability to offer efficient service to students while fulfilling their desire for Web-based access to their out-of-the-classroom experiences."

Fall Updates and Activities

Posted by Frederick Alcober in Software UpdatesNew TechnologyCompany News

Greetings from CollegiateLink,

My name is Fred Alcober and I am CollegiateLink's new Marketing and Communications Coordinator. I will be here to update you on all the new and exciting information about events and activities that CollegiateLink has in store for the upcoming year.

As of this fall, we are proud to be working with 40 clients in 14 states, representing nearly 400,000 students. The list includes large and medium-sized public institutions as well as private colleges and universities. Specific examples of success include Ithaca College’s use of SA LINK to track student officer participation in mandatory training sessions and online quizzes, the Alma Mater Society of the University of British Columbia’s use of SA LINK to increase student knowledge of involvement opportunities.

We have added new staff at CollegiateLink, including two software / support engineers, and began working with a dedicated quality assurance team to accelerate development of new features and more proactively support our users.

Earlier this month, we released SA LINK 2.0. This new version of our proven system for co-curricular management includes a more accessible interface and many enhancements requested by our clients over the past two years. With SA LINK 2.0, students now interact with a more vibrant online community of involvement opportunities. Department forms, including those with several pages and complicated workflow may be easily incorporated into a paperless process. SA LINK now also offers customizable co-curricular transcripts to offer each student and will soon be including more group management functions to help clubs be more effective such as attendance tracking, to-do lists, and event invitations / RSVPs.

When working with campus IT, we also now support integration with a myriad of campus systems including LDAP, CAS, PubCookie, Banner, PeopleSoft, and Colleague.

Please check back next week to find out more about CollegiateLink's conference appearances, including next week's in Las Vegas, NV.

Until then, Cheers

Fred
